Cooking Programme

Cooking is not just making food. Through it, our educators teach science in action, lay down basic maths, reading and time-telling skills, encourage healthy food choices, build confidence and creativity, and deepen connections with children. Cooking with little ones is nothing short of awesome.

How cooking works at our centre

Our cooking programme runs alongside our on-site kitchen, where fresh meals are prepared daily. Children don't just eat the food, they take part in making it.

Sessions are hands-on and age appropriate. Younger children might wash, sort or stir. Older children measure, count, follow a sequence of steps and see what happens when ingredients change under heat.

What children learn

  • Maths through measuring, counting and comparing quantities

  • Science through observing how ingredients change

  • Language through following and discussing instructions

  • Independence through handling real tools and real tasks

  • Healthy eating through familiarity with fresh ingredients

The Montessori influence

Cooking is a natural fit with the Montessori practical life activities in our rooms. Children use real equipment, work at their own pace, and complete a task from start to finish. The Reggio Emilia side shows in how sessions follow the children's own questions about what they're making.
